Lake Garda serving board

Lake Garda is recognizable from its silhouette alone: narrow as a fjord in the north, wide and open in the south. We trace its shoreline line by line into wood that is two centuries old, and fill it with resin that stays smooth under your hand.

Tree rings that open into the shape of a lake, in dark brown woodcut style.

The board

A piece of Lake Garda,
on your table.

A personalized serving board for the center of the table. You pick the lake; we engrave its shoreline and seal it in resin.

The lake

Why Lake Garda fits wood so well.

A few facts about the lake you are about to put on the table.

At about 370 square kilometers, Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy and, for generations, a favorite destination for visitors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Seen from above, its shape is hard to mistake: tight between steep mountains in the north, broad and open in the south, with the Sirmione peninsula reaching into the water like a finger.

It spans three regions: Lombardy, with Desenzano, Sirmione, Salò and Limone; Veneto, with Peschiera, Lazise, Bardolino and Malcesine; and Trentino, with Torbole and Riva del Garda. Monte Baldo rises in the north, while in the south the lake opens into a landscape of hills left behind by the glaciers of the last Ice Age.

Anyone who loves Lake Garda usually has a place that is theirs: an apartment in Limone, a day of sailing at Torbole, a Sunday on the beach at Sirmione. The board carries the same shoreline whichever place is your Lake Garda.

Lakegrains comes from Canzo, in Lombardy, Italy. Every board is engraved in antique chestnut and cut by hand, and every one is one of a kind.

How it's made

From old chestnut to your Lake Garda.

Three steps, from old wood to finished board.

  1. 01

    Choose Lake Garda

Lake Garda is the lake you pick. Prefer another one? Any European lake is possible on request.

  2. 02

    Engraved line by line

The shoreline of Lake Garda is laser engraved into reclaimed antique chestnut from the 1800s, selected for its grain and cut by hand.

  3. 03

    Resin, with or without legs

The engraving is filled with food-safe resin, so the lake stays smooth under your hand. Then you decide: flat on the table, or raised on steel legs.

Details

A Lake Garda board, for every kind of table.

Where it fits, and what it is not.

The keepsake

Better than a postcard.

Back from Sirmione, Malcesine or Riva? This is the Lake Garda keepsake that lives on the table instead of in a drawer.

The gift

For anyone who comes back every year.

A holiday apartment, a wedding anniversary, a family tradition: for people whose life has a Lake Garda in it, whether the house is on the shore or only the memories are.

Serving, not cutting

Slice in the kitchen.

It is a serving board, not a cutting board. Bring the cheese, the antipasti or the dessert to the table on it, flat or on steel legs.

One of a kind

No two boards alike.

The grain of wood from the 1800s never repeats, so no two Lake Garda boards are the same.

FAQ

Good questions.

What is the Lake Garda serving board?

A serving board in reclaimed antique chestnut from the 1800s, with the shoreline of Lake Garda laser engraved and filled with food-safe resin. Every board is one of a kind.

Can I choose a different lake?

Yes. Lakegrains engraves the most important lake of every European country, plus any other European lake on request, for example Lake Como, Lake Maggiore or Lake Constance. If yours is missing, get in touch.

Is the resin safe for food?

Yes. The resin is food-safe, so you can serve directly on the board.

Can I cut on it?

No. It is a serving board, not a cutting board. Slice in the kitchen, then bring the cheese, the antipasti or the dessert to the table on the board.

Can I use it without the legs?

Of course. Leave the steel legs off and it sits flat on the table; add them and it becomes a raised serving piece.

When can I buy a Lake Garda board?

Lakegrains is in pre-launch and the first run is small and limited. Waitlist members hear first, with one email when we open.

Lake Garda, Lago di Garda, Gardasee, Benaco: is it the same lake?

Yes. Lake Garda is the English name, Lago di Garda the Italian one, Gardasee the German one, and Benaco the older name that comes from Latin. The shoreline on the board is the same.

Where does Lakegrains come from?

Lakegrains is run by Tecno-System di Paredi Enrico, based in Canzo, in Lombardy, Italy.
